Pueblo de San Francisco de Ixcatan (Town of Saint Francis of Ixcatan) This is a picturesque, ancient small
town that is located in the kilometer 26 of the Federal Highway No. 54 Guadalajara Saltillo, approximately one kilometer
on the left. The downtown area has a gazebo that was remodeled in 1990, and a church to venerate St. Francis, the patron
saint of the town. There is not much information about the construction of the church; nevertheless in the vestry area
two dates were found recently that possibly reflect the initiation and conclusion of the construction, 1621 and 20 November,
1726. The church has been remodeled conserving the original style for the most part; the main entrance was built with
stone of different colors and the front has an arch supported by pillars. The arch has the emblem of the Catholic Church
carved with the keys of Saint Peter, a sphere of the world and a cross. In the central niche of the altar you can see the
image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The festival celebrating the patron saint, St. Francis, is held on October 4th of every year. The
town still conserves the provincial structures: the cobblestoned roads, the adobe houses and typical red roofs.
